Lobster shells can be utilized as a valuable resource for plant food or fertilizer due to their nutrient content, particularly calcium and chitin. When the shells and bodies are dehydrated and ground into meal for use as a fertilizer, it provides an all-natural source of organic nitrogen and calcium for plants, especially during their vegetative growth phase. Repurposing lobster byproducts utilizes a resource that would otherwise go to waste and it reduces the amount of organic waste entering landfills or disposal sites.
