The Coast of Maine Difference
Here at Coast of Maine we are proud of the quality and consistency of our compost-based soils. Compost, we believe (naturally decomposed organic matter) is the key ingredient.
Ours are made using carefully designed and tested recipes which include the very best ingredients (sustainably sourced from pristine ocean waters and local farms) combined with rigorous quality controls. We never use biosolids, municipal or household waste. Close attention to detail with frequent turning, sampling and testing plus a lengthy aging and curing process produces dark, rich compost.
We use all natural ingredients

Follow these few simple steps
New & existing garden beds
To maintain healthy soils, apply Cobscook Blend™ Organic & Natural In-Ground Garden Soil every year. This is best done in the spring when prepping to seed or transplant and again mid-season.
There are generally two different ways to use this product. For improving soil structure (sandy, compacted or clay soil), work a 2” layer into the top 4” to 6“of soil before planting.
Alternatively, if you have been amending your garden plot and have fairly loose soil to begin with, and have cleared the bed out of debris, a top-dressing application is recommended. Add a 2” layer on top of the soil and seed or transplant directly into it. This will dramatically reduce the number of weed seeds that germinate from the native soil and mean less weeding for you!
Back fill the planting hole with a mix of equal parts of Cobscook Blend™ Organic & Natural In-Ground Garden Soil and existing garden soil. Do not pack the soil down around the plants, as this eliminates valuable airspace for the roots. Rather, water the plant in to settle the soil, adding more if needed. Water thoroughly and regularly until the plant has established itself. Midway through the growing season, feed with an organic plant food like our Stonington Blend™ Organic Plant Food.
